Acid
Kia ora, today we are learning about acids, An Acid you may have had at home could be a Lemon wich contains Citric Acid or Vinegar which has Acetic Acid. Have you tried any of these Acids?
Aim: To make red cabage pH indicator for use on different household chemicals.
Red cabage indicator experiment
Materials:
1. Red canage
2. Beaker
3. Bunsen burner
4. Pipette
5. sodium hydrum
6. hydrochloride acid
7. test tubes
8. paper towles
9. test tube
10. water
1. Chop up the red cabbage into small pieces. Place in a beaker and cover with small amount of water.
2. Bring the solution to the boil using a bunsen burner and then turn off the heat. Let it sit to cool down.
3. Pour the cabbage water through a paper towel into a beaker. The dark purple liquid in the jar is the pH indicator liquid.
4. Suck up the indicator into a pipette.
5. Use the cabbage indicator to test the acidity of the different household liquids by slowly putting a drop at a time in the test tube.

Sherbet
Kia ora, Today we are learning about bakingsoda and what to make with it or clean with it.
Baking soda Can be used to make things like, Cakes, bread, Sherbet and more.
Baking soda can be used to:
10. Scrub away scuff marks on the wall.
9. Use it as a deodorant.
8. Clean and unclog smelly sinks.
7. Cleans away your mould.
6. Add abrasive to cleaning products.
5. Deoderise your kitty litter trey.
4. Clean your non-Self cleaning oven.
3. Wash build-up in your hair.
2. Deodrise you carpets.
1. Adding it to your laundry soaps/powder.
Equipment:
1. Citric acid.
2. Icing sugar.
3. Baking soda
4. Raro.
5. Spoon.
6. Cup.
7. Mixing stick
Recipe:
1 Tea spoon of powdered drink crystals. (eg Raro)
1/4 Tea spoon of Citric Acid.
1 Tea spoon of Icing Sugar
1/4 Tea spoon Baking Soda.
Steps:
1. Put the ingredients together in the cup.
2. Mix the ingredients.
3. Eat the sherbet.
